Anwar Hussein is a master’s student in the Prevention Science and Practice program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Anwar graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Clinical Psychology. As a former research intern for the Family and Youth Institute, Anwar was involved in research focusing on youth, parenting, and mental health among minority and immigrant groups. His research interests broadly include biculturalism, identity development, and mental health outcomes. In particular, he is passionate about understanding how African American adolescents develop their multifaceted identities and how those identities impact their mental health. Anwar is a proud Somali-American who was born in Alexandria, Virginia and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Anwar works as a graduate research assistant for the Bicultural Identity and Competence Development Project.
