Connie K. Hur

Connie K. Hur is an Ed.M candidate in Human Development and Psychology at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She graduated with a double major in Communication and Psychology from the University of Southern California with the hopes of doing research on - and being of service to - the development of cultural narratives and identity.

She has been able to pursue those goals by working on the Research team for Sony Pictures Entertainment and most recently, at Walt Disney Television. In addition, she has taught students in South Los Angeles about the significance of intersectionality and the role that media plays in understanding one’s identity through her involvement with the Critical Media Project (CMP). Connie has been a research assistant at USC’s Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS), conducting research on the effects of health-related communication on low SES minority populations, specifically Korean Americans in Los Angeles. She has also done research for the Media, Diversity, and Social Change (MDSC) Initiative, where she coded impactful shows and films for different intersectional identities, including race, gender, age, sexuality, disability, and more. Connie hopes to continue examining the ways in which accurate cultural and ethnic-racial representations can help produce better developmental and educational outcomes.
