Jamie Johannsen

Jamie Johannsen is Ed.M. graduate of the Learning & Teaching program at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. She is interested in how teachers talk to students about race, ethnicity, and class inequality, and how learning about these issues can inspire civic action. Prior to HGSE, Jamie earned a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Social Studies Education from Boston University. At BU, she worked on a research team studying the development of critical consciousness in adolescents. She has also taught high school social studies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, where she found a love for teaching, learning, and working with teenagers. She is currently a high school teacher in the greater Boston area and a research associate with the AERID Lab.
